HAPPY WORLD BOOK DAY & HAPPY SAINT GEORGE'S DAY

Today we celebrate TWO important occasions
1. WORLD BOOK DAY
2. SAINT GEORGE'S DAY
World Book Day 2020 | Malvern Primary School

We celebrate WORLD BOOK day today, because in 1616 two very famous writers died.
One was Spanish. His name was CERVANTES. He is famous for writing DON QUIJOTE DE LA MANCHA.
The other was English. His name was SHAKESPEARE. He is famous for writing ROMEO & JULIET, HAMLET, MACBETH and many, many more.

2. SAINT GEORGE is the Patron Saint of ENGLAND

Happy St George's Day, Europe! Patron saint of England, Catalonia ...

Legend is that Saint George killed a dragon and saved a village from destruction.
He is also the Patron Saint of many other countries like Ethiopia, Malta and Georgia.
He is also the Patron Saint of Aragón and Catalonia.
